Linda Codega, writer for io9 and Gizmodo, joins me to talk fandom!
We kick things off with one of the great new fandoms, Our Flag Means Death. We talk about how we discovered the show, favorite characters, the show being explicitly, undeniably queer & what that means to them and the audience.
From there, we talk about NBC’s Kings TV series. Lasting for one season (available to stream for free on the NBC website), we talk about discovering the show, the characters and actors, the way the show swung for the fences every episode with its biblical ties to the story of David, and so much more.
Then we discuss the Marvel Cinematic Universe. From watching Iron Man, and getting into Thor and Captain America, to then having a discussion about the MCU & and its relationship with visual effects studios.
This segues into Linda’s writing for io9 and Gizmodo. We talk about how they got into writing and writing for pop culture, the Marvel VFX article that they were working on during the time of recording, and some of the articles that they’re most proud of.
